Scientific Name Rhipidura albicollis Bengali Name Chak Doyel, Sadagola Lejnachani, Dholagola Chatighuruni | চাক দোয়েল, সাদাগলা লেজনাচানি, ধলাগলা ছাতিঘুরুনি Description The size of the bird is little larger than sparrow. Cheerly restless slate-gray bird with white eyebrows and white-throat. It has dark fan shaped tail, edged in white. Variation of plumage is conspicuous between different races. Northern race is mainly slate grey above and below and the peninsular race has white spotted brown breast and rest of the underparts white. Sexes alike. Distribution The subspecies albogularis can be found in southern Gujarat and Maharashtra and peninsular India and in the south of Madhya Pradesh. Absent above 2000 meters of elevation. Subspecies canescans is resident of Himalayan foothills. Other than these two there are other four subspecies with minor colour differences. Food Insects are its main food. Flickers its tail continuously and searches for its food. Habits It is inhabitant of shady forest, shrub and jungles and favours well wooded ravines. Moves singly or in pair for food restlessly. Tail is often fanned and held erect. Its call is like harsh “chuk-chuk”. It also sings clear whistling song of several tinkling notes like “tri ri ri ri” or “tut-tut-tut-sit-sit-sit”. Nesting March to August is its nesting season. A cup like nest is created with grass and fibres plastered outside with cobweb. Lays 3 eggs, pinkish cream with a ring of brown specks round broad end. বিবরণ আকারে চড়ুইয়ের চেয়ে সামান্য বড়। সাদা ভ্রু, সাদা গলা চঞ্চল ধূসর কালো রঙের পাখি। গাঢ় রঙের ফ্যানের মতো সাদা প্রান্তওয়ালা লেজ থাকে। বিভিন্ন উপপ্রজাতির পালকের ভিন্নতা লক্ষ্য করা যায়। উত্তরদিকের প্রজাতির দেহের উপরিভাগ ও নিম্নভাগ ধূসর কালো রঙের, উপদ্বীপ অঞ্চলের প্রজাতির ক্ষেত্রে বুক ও দেহের নীচের বাকী অংশ সাদা রঙের হয়। স্ত্রী ও পুরুষ একইরকমের দেখতে হয়। বিস্তার উপপ্রজাতি albogularis গুজরাটের দক্ষিনপ্রান্তে, মহারাষ্ট্রে ও মধ্যপ্রদেশ সহ বাকী উপদ্বীপ অঞ্চলে পাওয়া যায়। ২০০০ মিটারের উপরে অনুপস্থিত। উপপ্রজাতি canescans হিমালয়ের পাদদেশ অঞ্চলের বাসিন্দা। এই দুইধরণের উপপ্রজাতি ছাড়াও আরো চারটি উপপ্রজাতি পাওয়া যায়। খাদ্য কীটপতঙ্গ এর প্রধাণ খাদ্য। আবিরাম লেজ নাচিয়ে খাবারের খোঁজে ঘুরে বেড়ায়। স্বভাব ছায়াছন্ন অরণ্য, ঝোপঝাড় ও গাছপালাযুক্ত অঞ্চলের বাসিন্দা। একা বা একজোড়া পাখি খাবারের জন্য চঞ্চল হয়ে ঘুরে বেড়ায়। লেজ বেশিরভাগ সময়েই ফ্যানের মতো খাড়া হয়ে থাকে। "চুক-চুক" করে কর্কশ আওয়াজ করে। টুংটাং শব্দের মতো "ট্রি রি রি রি" বা "টুট-টুট-টুট-সিট-সিট-সিট" স্বরে শিস দেয়। বাসস্থান মার্চ থেকে অগাষ্ট হল এর বাসা বানাবার সময়। ঘাস, তন্তু ও মাকরসার জাল দিয়ে প্লাস্টার করে কাপের মতো বাসা বানায়। ৩ টি গোলাপী ক্রিম রঙের ডিম দেয়, ডিমের গোলাকার অংশের দিকে বাদামী বলয় থাকে। |
