Scientific Name Dicrurus hottentottus Bengali Name Keshraj | কেশরাজ Description Glossy large blue-black bird with incurved outer tail feathers. Sexes alike. Distribution It is a resident of northern foothills of Indian Union (In Himalayas can be spotted upto 2000 meters), plains in Bangladesh and eastern side of India to south Tamilnadu and Kerala. Food Flower nectar and small insects. Habits Arboreal bird. It moves alone, in pairs or with parties. It is a resident of forest or forest edges. It eats flower nectar with its long noticeable curved bill. Nesting In north April to June and in south March to April is its nesting season. The nest is like other drongo's nests. At the horizontal end of a branch it creates its nest with grass, rootles etc. It lays 3 to 4 creamy or pinkish eggs. বিবরণ বড় চকচকে নীলচে কালো রঙের পাখি। লেজের শেষ দিকটা বাইরের দিকে বাঁকানো। স্ত্রী ও পুরুষ একই রকমের দেখতে হয়। বিস্তার ভারতবর্ষের উত্তরে হিমালয়ের পাদদেশে ২০০০ মিটার উচ্চতা পর্যন্ত, পূর্বের সমতলে, দক্ষিণে তামিলনাড়ু ও কেরালা ও বাংলাদেশে দেখতে পাওয়া যায়। খাদ্য ফুলের মধু ও ছোট কীটপতঙ্গ। স্বভাব বৃক্ষাচারী পাখি। একা, একজোড়া বা দলের সঙ্গে ঘোরাফেরা করে। অরণ্য বা অরন্যপ্রান্তে বসবাস করে। ফুলের মধু পান করে এবং এর জন্য এদের একটা লম্বা বাঁকানো চঞ্চু থাকে। বাসস্থান উত্তরে এপ্রিল থেকে জুন ও দক্ষিণে মার্চ থেকে এপ্রিল এর বাসা বানানোর সময়। বাকী ফিঙে প্রজাতির পাখিদের মতোই বাসা বানায়। গাছের ডালের একপ্রান্তে ঘাস বা গাছের ছোট মূল দিয়ে বাসা বানায়। ৩ থেকে ৪ টি ঘিয়ে বা গোলাপি রঙের ডিম দেয়। |
