Scientific Name Copsychus saularis Bengali Name Doyel | দোয়েল Description Size is a bit smaller than Bulbul. Color from belly to under tail-coverts is white, patch of white is on the wing and rest of the body is black for the male bird. Black is replaced by grey in female. Distribution Can be spotted all over the subcontinent except arid areas. Absent above 2500 meters of elevation. Food Its diet chart contains Insects from the ground, invertebrates, flower nectar etc. Habits It is familiar bird in town or village. In non-breeding season it is shy, silent but in breeding season it utters whistling sound swee-ee or harsh chur-r. The male bird sings and jerks its tail perching on some tree-top or post to attract the female. Nesting April to July is nesting season in India and Bangladesh. It builds its nest with dry grass, rootlets, hair on holes of old wall, tree-trunk etc. Lay 3 to 5 eggs, pale blue green blotched and mottled with reddish brown. Special Information Oriental Magpie Robin or Doyel (দোয়েল) is the National Bird of Bangladesh. বিবরণ আকারে বুলবুলির চেয়ে সামান্য ছোট। পুরুষ দোয়েলের পেট থেকে লেজের নীচভাগ পর্যন্ত সাদা, ডানার উপর কিছুটা অংশ সাদা, বাকী শরীর কালো রঙের হয়। স্ত্রী দোয়েলের ক্ষেত্রে গায়ের রঙ কালোর পরিবর্তে ধূসর। বিস্তার শুষ্ক অঞ্চল বাদ দিয়ে বাকী উপমহাদেশে দেখা যায়। ২৫০০ মিটারের উপরে দেখা যায়না। খাদ্য খাদ্যতালিকায় রয়েছে কীটপতঙ্গ, মেরুদণ্ডহীন প্রাণী, ফুলের মধু ইত্যাদি। স্বভাব গ্রামাঞ্চল বা শহরাঞ্চলে পরিচিত পাখি। প্রজনন ঋতুতে “সুই-ই” স্বরে শিস দেয় অথবা কর্কশ “চুর-র” শব্দ করে। স্ত্রী দোয়েলকে আকর্ষণ করার জন্য পুরুষ দোয়েলকে গাছ বা পোলের উপর বসে লেজ নাচিয়ে শিস দিতে দেখা যায়। বাসস্থান এপ্রিল থেকে জুলাই মাসের মধ্যে ভারতবর্ষে বাসা বানায়। শুকনো ঘাস, মূল এসব দিয়ে পুরানো বাড়ির কোটরে বা গাছের গুড়িতে বাসা বানায়। ৩ থেকে ৫ টা হালকা নীল রঙের লাল বাদামী দাগওয়ালা ডিম দেয়। বিশেষ তথ্য দোয়েল বা Oriental Magpie Robin হল বাংলাদেশের জাতীয় পাখি। Story |
