Scientific Name Garrulax ruficollis Bengali Name Lalghar Penga, Lalchegharwala Penga | লালঘাড় পেঙ্গা, লালচেঘাড়ওয়ালা পেঙ্গা Description The size of the bird is like myna. It is a olive-brown laughingthrush, with rufous patch on sides of neck and black face and throat. It also has grey crown, nape and rufous vent. Tail is uniformly brownish black. Sexes alike. Distribution Resident of North-East Himalayan foothills of India and Bangladesh. Food Seeds, insects, berries are its main food. Habits Resident of forest edges, cultivation areas, grasslands, bamboo forests etc. Can be spotted travelling with group in grasslands or shrub. Forages on or near the ground. It utters a repeated, whistled “wiwi wi-whu whi-yi-ha” and a clear shrill “kr-kr-kr-keeer-kroo-keer-koo”. It starts with few notes and builds a loud crescendo before end. Calls includes as shrill “ch-yaa” or “cher”. Nesting The nesting season is from March to August. A cuplike nest is created in brambles or in bushes with bamboo or other leaves, grasses, roots, weed stems and creeper stems. Lays 3 to 4 eggs. বিবরণ আকারে ময়নার মতো। জলপাই-বাদামী রঙের পেঙ্গা। ঘাড়ের দুদিক লালচে-বাদামী রঙের ও মুখ ও গলার রঙ কালো। ঘাড়, মাথা ধূসর রঙের ও পায়ুঅঞ্চলের রঙ লালচে-বাদামী। লেজের রঙ বাদামী কালো। স্ত্রী ও পুরুষ একইরকমের দেখতে হয়। বিস্তার উত্তরপূর্ব ভারতের হিমালয়ের পাদদেশ ও বাংলাদেশের বাসিন্দা। খাদ্য শস্য, কীটপতঙ্গ, ফল এর প্রধান খাদ্য। স্বভাব অরণ্যের পার্শ্ববর্তী অঞ্চল, চাষের জমি, ঘাসবন, বাঁশবন এর বিচরণক্ষেত্র। ঘাসজমি বা ঝোপে দলবেঁধে ঘুরে বেড়ায়। সাধারণত মাটি বা মাটির আশেপাশেই খাবার খোঁজে। ক্রমাগত “উইউই উই-হু উই-ই-হা” স্বরে শিস দেয় বা পরিষ্কার “ক্র-ক্র-ক্রির-ক্রো” স্বরে ডাকে। ধীরে ধীরে কয়েকটা ছোট আওয়াজ নিয়ে শুরু হয় ও জোরালো ভাবে শেষ হয়। বাসস্থান মার্চ থেকে অগাষ্টের মধ্যে বাসা বানায়। কাঁটাঝোপে বাঁশ বা অন্য গাছের পাতা, মূল, ঘাস, গাছের ছাল দিয়ে কাপের মতো বাসা বানায়। ৩ থেকে ৪ টা ডিম দেয়। |
