Description
A glossy black drongo with conspicuous tufted forehead and two long wirelike spatula-tipped feathers in the tail. During its flight the two feathers in the tail looks like two large bees are following the drongo. Sexes alike.

Distribution
It is a resident of south India and south eastern Himalayan regions in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Andaman and Nicobars.

Food
Insects and flies are its food.

Habits
It is a resident of moist-deciduous forest, plains and hills. In the Himalayas it can be spotted upto 2000 meter. It hunts with small and mixed hunting groups associated with tree pies and jungle babblers. Very noisy, can perform various whistling, screeching and mimicry.

Nesting
It creates its nest from March to June. The nest is like a cup created with twigs, rootlets, fibers and cobweb. It lays 3-4 eggs.


বিবরণ
চকচকে কালো রঙের মাথায় স্পষ্ট ঝুঁটিওয়ালা পাখি। লেজে দুটো লম্বা চামচের মতো পালক থাকে। ওড়ার সময় লেজের পালকদুটোকে দুটো বড় মৌমাছি বলে ভ্রম হতে পারে। স্ত্রী ও পুরুষ একই রকমের দেখতে হয়।

বিস্তার
দক্ষিণ ভারত, হিমালয়ের দক্ষিণ পূর্ব ভারতে, বাংলাদেশ, শ্রীলঙ্কা, মায়ানমার, আন্দামান ও নিকোবর দ্বীপপুঞ্জে দেখা যায়।

খাদ্য
কীটপতঙ্গ ও মাছি জাতীয় প্রাণী এর খাদ্য।

স্বভাব
আর্দ্র-পর্ণমোচী অরণ্যে, সমতলে ও পাহাড়ের বাসিন্দা। হিমালয়ের ২০০০ মিটার পর্যন্ত দেখা যায়। পাখিদের (হাঁড়িচাচা বা ছাতারে) মিশ্র দলের সঙ্গে শিকার করে। বিভিন্ন ধরনের শিস, কর্কশ আওয়াজ ও অনুকরণ করতে পারে।

বাসস্থান
মার্চ থেকে জুনের মধ্যে বাসা বানায়। বাসাটি একটি কাপের মতো যা কাঠি, শিকড়, তন্তু এবং মাকড়সার জাল দিয়ে তৈরি। তিন থেকে চারটি ডিম দেয়।
