Description
Little larger than myna in size. Similar to Brown-headed Barbet. Color is grass green, head and belly is pale green with brown patches. Strong beak with light pink color. Orange circle around eyes. Sexes alike.

Distribution
Resident of himalayan foothills in North east region of India and Bangladesh. Can be spotted northern region of west bengal and bangladesh.

Food
Like other barbets main food is different kind of fruits. Occasionally eats insects and small vertebrates like lizard, frog etc.

Habits
As its main food is fruit, it can be spotted in gardens or areas with fruit trees. Lives in deciduous forest and well-wooded localities.

Nesting
Its nesting season is from March to Mid-June. Create hole in tree branch for nesting. Lays 2 to 4 eggs with white color.


বিবরণ
আকারে ময়নার চেয়ে সামান্য বড়। অনেকটা খয়েরি-মাথা বসন্তবৌরির মতো দেখতে। পিঠের দিকে রঙ ঘাসের মতো সবুজ। মাথা ও দেহের নীচের অংশের রঙ হালকা সবুজ ও তাতে বাদামী রঙের দাগ আছে। চঞ্চু বড়, শক্তপোক্ত ও হালকা গোলাপী রঙের। চোখের চারিদিক কমলা রঙের হয়।

বিস্তার
উত্তর-পূর্ব ভারতে ও বাংলাদেশে হিমালয়ের পাদদেশে বাস করে।

খাদ্য
অনান্য বসন্তবৌরির মতো ফলাহারী। তবে অনেকসময় কীটপতঙ্গ বা ছোট মেরুদণ্ডওয়ালা প্রাণী যেমন ব্যাঙ, টিকটিকি খাদ্য হিসাবে গ্রহণ করে।

স্বভাব
ফলাহারী হওয়ার জন্য বাগানে বা ফলের গাছপালাযুক্ত অঞ্চলে দেখা যায়। পর্ণমোচী অরণ্যে বা গাছপালাযুক্ত জায়গায় বাস করে।

বাসস্থান
মার্চ থেকে জুনের মাঝামাঝি সময় পর্যন্ত বাসা বানায়। গাছের ডালে বা গুঁড়িতে গর্ত করে বাসা তৈরী করে। ২ থেকে ৪ টা সাদা রঙের ডিম দেয়।

Story
When I visit my home, during leisure time I pick up my camera and go amidst of the green nature. One of my favourite place is riverside which is 2-3 kms away from my home. The place is full of fruit-trees, bushes, crop fields. It is a very good place for watching a large variety of birds. I cannot remember the exact time but that day I was going to the riverside by pedaling my bicycle.Suddenly I saw a green bird to fly from a distant tree and sit in a tree beside the road. I thought it should be a blue throated barbet because that is common bird in my hometown. But I found that it was Lineated Barbet. As the light was not good I was able to capture only 4 to 5 photos.That was not the first time I saw this bird.I spotted this bird during my visit to Jayanti also. The second picture is from Jayanti.

    খুব মনে পড়ে, ছেলেবেলায় জঙ্গলে প্রচুর পরিমানে এই 'মেগালাইমা বারবেট' পাখির পেছনে সারাক্ষণ ছোটাছুটি করতাম।
