Description
The size is similar to myna. A bright yellow and black bird with black head and neck. Wings are black and tail is yellow with black central feathers. It has bright pink bill and crimson eyes. Sexes alike but the black is head is duller in female. Young birds have yellow forehead and black head streaked with yellowish.

Distribution
It is resident of hill and plains near himalayan foothills in India. It is also resident of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar. Local migrant.

Food
It eats fruits, berries, insects and flower nectar.

Habits
Arboreal bird. It can be spotted singly or in pairs in leafy trees in well wooded area. It resides near human habitations also. Can be spotted calling from leafy trees in gardens or parks. The call is like fluty “why-you” or “why-you-you”. The harsh call “kwaak” is similar to tree pie’s call.

Nesting
April to July is its nesting season. It creates its beautiful cup like nest using grass, fibres and cobweb. Lays 2 to 3 eggs, pinkish white blotched with black or reddish brown.


বিবরণ
আকারে ময়নার মতো। উজ্জ্বল হলুদ ও কালো রঙের পাখি। মাথা ও গলার রঙ, ডানা ও লেজের মাঝের পালকগুলোর রঙ কালো হয়। বাকী দেহ হলুদ রঙের। চঞ্চুর রঙ গোলাপী ও চোখের রঙ রক্তবর্ণ। স্ত্রী ও পুরুষ পাখি একই রকমের দেখতে হয় কিন্তু স্ত্রী পাখির মাথার কালো রঙ কম উজ্জ্বল। অপরিণত পাখিদের কপালের রঙ হলুদ হয় ও কালো মাথায় হলুদ দাগ দেখা যায়।

বিস্তার
হিমালয়ের পাদদেশে সমতলের ও পাহাড়ের বাসিন্দা। ভারতবর্ষ ছাড়াও বাংলাদেশ, শ্রীলঙ্কা, মায়ানমারে দেখা যায়। স্থানীয় পরিযায়ী পাখি।

খাদ্য
খাদ্য হিসাবে ফল, জামজাতীয় ফল, কীটপতঙ্গ ও ফুলের মধু গ্রহণ করে।

স্বভাব
বৃক্ষাচারী পাখি। একা বা একজোড়া পাখিকে গাছপালাযুক্ত অঞ্চলে পত্রাচ্ছাদিত গাছে দেখা যায়। মানুষের বসতির কাছেও বসবাস করে। পার্কে বা বাগানে গাছের উপর থেকে ডাকতে দেখা যায়। বাঁশির মতো সুরে "হোয়াই-ইউ" বা "হোয়াই-ইউ-ইউ" করে ডাকে। কর্কশ ভাবে "কোয়াক" করেও ডাকে যা শুনতে অনেকটা হাঁড়িচাচার মতো শোনায়।

বাসস্থান
এপ্রিল থেকে জুলাই এর বাসা বানাবার সময়। ঘাস, গাছের তন্তু ও মাকরসার জাল দিয়ে সুন্দর কাপের মতো বাসা বানায়। ২ থেকে ৩ টি গোলাপী সাদা রঙের ডিম দেয় যার উপরে কালো বা লালচে-বাদামী ছিট থাকে।

    black headed is from Africa.
